Outdoor Heart Rate Monitor
An outdoor heart rate monitor is designed for people engaged in outdoor sports and activities such as skiing, hiking, mountain biking, trail running etc. In such activities, knowledge of your altitude, of the changing weather pattern, and of your directional bearing can become quite important. A typical outdoor HRM therefore comes with an altimeter and a barometer. Sometimes it is also equipped with a compass.

Note: As of December 2011, most of these HRMs are becoming obsolete. The only one that is current is the Suunto T6d (the latest version of the Suunto T6).

The Suunto X6HR offers a manual heart rate training zone. It takes lap and has an interval timer. In terms of outdoor features it has an altimeter, barometer. It also comes with PC Software.
The Suunto T6 offers a manual heart rate training zone. It provides real time average heart rate. It also calculates calories burnt. It takes laps and has an interval timer. It provides an important metric for serious athletes called Training Effect. The T6 can be used with PODs: Foot POD, GPS POD, Bike POD etc. In terms of outdoor features it has an altimeter. It uses digital wireless transmission and comes with PC training software. The Suunto T6d is currently the latest version.
